The 4th and largest of the Susan Maersk vessels in the Maersk fleet over the last 100 years. She was completed in 1997 at the company owned yard at Odense and second of 25 sisters of 346.98 meters and initially rated at 7,226TEU and now 9,578 TEU without any lengthening. They were part of a series of about 50 containers built at Odense from 1988 with the same "Maersk" profile, starting with a small series of C&K class 4,400 and 294 meters long, ending with the "Emma Maersk's" now 15,000 TEU and 397.7 meters, although 4 more smaller G's were then built.
